Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Damned. I cannot edit or create any contact using "contacts" application. When I use "photo ID contacts" application, it works and when I create or edit any contact, I can see it in "regular" contacts but I cannot make any changes in standard contacts application apart from delete. Even when I add new number in existing contact and save it (done) it will not make it. Any idea what to check?
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 I tried to return to previous saved (thanks All Backup) setup from yesterday. No help at all. Deleted all contacts. No help Then I started to remove applications and one of those was QTec settings software probably created for my provider (Eurotel) by HTC Anyway. With removal of several applications and data (Beta Player and codecs, some sounds...) and restart I was finally able to create new contact. No idea, what exactly caused it. Since that it was easy - I just restored it from backup again and tested it. And it works... I know that backup software (all backup) will not save items related to the contacts database (like personal ringtones etc). So restore just returned saved applications and other settings and the contacts base seems to be fixed for now. But really no idea, where was the problem and how to avoid it for the future.
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 UPDATE: I spent all day working with my new phone and all was OK. Since the evening, when again it started doing strange things (like it did not recognised incoming phone call ID and displayed it as only unknown number... Then I discovered that the standard contacts application does not work again - I can only delete contacts using "contacts" but not edit it or even assign default number etc. Any changes are not reflected (make new contact, save it and nothing happens). When I create or edit contact using "Photo ID" it works. And very very strange thing - when I press green button (last dialed number) and find the contact this way, I can edit it, save it and simply all works fine. Are there two different applications for working with contacts? Seems like once I edit certain contact it use the same module. Very very very strange.
Guest Confucious Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 (edited) Time for a Hard Reset I think..... Edited January 8, 2005 by Confucious
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Time for a Hard Reset I think..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure, but I don“t know if I will not loose all the GPRS settings and customisations, what my provider delivered with the phone. I will see.... Probably it will be only solution.
Guest Confucious Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 They shoulsd still be there after a Hard Reset, mine certainly were with a UK C500. It might help with some of the other problems you've been having as well. Good luck. :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 It could be the caller ID that is causing the problem, but a hard reset will restore the phone back to the way it was when it was delivered to you. Some applications may not survive the hard reset but they will be on the cd that came with your phone.

I got only standard MS CD where is Active Sync and manual and Outlook. No software, no system ROM software, no additions... I asked on the helpline and they offer re-installation as free of charge service in the shop, so probably will visit them on monday.
