CAB file for data connection settings

Starting to get a little annoyed now. I installed Sprite backup on my C500 and expected it to backup the exact current state of the phone (including the application lock status and the GPRS settings) but no such luck so can anyone tell me if it's possible to create a cab file containing the settings for my data connections?

I also thought of doing something like this, but from a desktop application standpoint using RAPI. But after a little bit of investigation, I decided not to. Hopefully someone else will take this idea and run with it.

Well from my investigations, it seem that all settings are written to .dll's instead of the reg. All settings that is, apart from the ArcsoftMMS app found on Imate, Audiovox etc. phones, which use the reg to store the MMS settings.

I just need to figure out how and where orange store there settings for MMS and i'll be able to put together .cabs for all networks and roms.

Keep up the good work. It would be excellent to be able to download the settings because after a hard reset it's so annoying having to put the settings back.

Hope you suss it out! :D

I thought some of the data settings were stored in the registry. Some of the regkeys I found were under GUIDs, and I didn't follow through with searching the entire registry for all the references of those GUIDs. I find it difficult to believe that it would actually update the binary DLL's with these settings. :?:

When I restore from Sprite my connection settings return... After a hard reset and Sprite restore I don't need need to do anything except the following below... Just be sure to select both Personal and System data in the backup options... Here's what I do (note that I have all contacts/tasks/calendar items synced on Outlook PC)...

1. Backup the phone (Personal and System data selected in options)

2. Perform a hard reset

3. Delete the activesync partnership (to avoid getting duplicate data on the phone)

4. Connect the phone to the PC

5. Select standard partnership

6. When it says data is on the device and asks what I want to do I tell it to replace all the data on the phone with the data on the PC (Outlook).

That's it! That's all I do after a hard reset with Sprite and my phone is back up and running...
