Guest Pondrew Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Morning all, Questions as above, how do I find out the GPRS tariffs for networks such as T-Mobile and does BT Mobile even HAVE GPRS? I think the Orange experience has been so simple and well structured I'm having trouble dealing with the chaos that is the other providers... ...now if Orange would just put up a new mast in my home town all would be well... :?:
Guest Confucious Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Ask them? T-Mobile seem to do an "Unlimited" subject to 100Mb "fair Use") for £40/Month otherwise it seems to be PAYG but I can only see this on the data card. When I had my Blackberry I was paying £10/ month for 100Mb - Maybe I should have kept that SIM instead of letting the contract end. The only other mention I can find is on their T-Zones page. Can't see any mention of GPRS on BT Mobile. The other operators don't exactly seem to be promoting GPRS do they?
Guest Pondrew Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Good, it wasn't just me being blind. Amazing that the other networks don't cater for the smartphone market the way Orange do. I've heard rumours that BT Mobile GPRS works, even though they officially don't do GPRS, because they are a piggyback service using someone elses network, problem would be when the networks finally sorted out the billing people could end up with huge bills. Tempted to go with T Mobile but £40 a month does not appeal...
Guest Confucious Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Just checked T-Mobile - with the Blackberry if you have a voice plan as well you get 50Mb data for £10/month - they don't seem to have data plans for smartphones. It might be worth gicing them a ring and seeing if you can get that plan and tell them you already own a Blackberry or something. Be careful about which ports are available tho'. I know in the USA T-Mob restrict some ports so you can't, for example access instant messaging. It might be worth just asking them what they offer - but that would mean finding someone who knows what they are talking about....
