Guest domer Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Anyone have mulitple mail profiles in Outlook? Activesync has NEVER really supported this well. Here's my problem. Outlook is set to prompt for which profile to use. I have one for work (exchange server) and one for personal email. I won't go into the reasons. Let's just say work limits me and I want them separate. When I plug in the device and AS starts, it asks for a profile. I pick the work one (my default for sync-ing) and it works fine, if outlook is already running in that profile. If outlook is not running, it will ask me which profile and if I pick my work one, it works fine too. Here's the problem. PROBLEM - Once I'm connected through AS, I cannot close Outlook and re-open it with my personal profile. Essentially AS has locked my Outlook into the work profile only. Unless I disconnect the phone, close Outlook (if open), I have no way of getting into my personal profile. Why can't AS work behind the scenes and connect to the specific profile? I wish there was an option like that in the sync options settings. On the flipside I had a Blackberry that did this perfectly. Inside the bberry software synch options it asked you for a specific profile. Then it would sync with that no matter what profile Outlook was running in... I could also run Outlook freely while connected selecting either the work or personal profile. Too bad my company ran out of BBerry licenses. Also the smartphone platform is way better for someone that wants customizations. Anyway, sorry for the book. If you read this far, thanks! Any ideas?

I'm sync-ing to Outlook that connects to my company's exchange server through VPN. I do not have the Synchronize with a server option checked in AS. I don't believe this has anything to do with the problem though. Hi, How are you connecting to the exchange server from home? What mobile device are you using? Guest gaplayer26 Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 (edited) I've setup my system the same as yours - - Two Outlook Profiles - Outlook prompts for the profiles when started (Work or Personal) - My mobile is partnered with the desktop machine with the multiple Outlook profiles. It would seem the only way to get it to prompt for the Oultook profile again is to disconnect/reconnect AS (as you've discovered :cry: ) - I cannot see a configuration setting in AS (Using AS 3.8 ) either. There may be a workaround..ish which may or may not be suitable to you: Using 'Resync' - Running this program will automatically disconnect/restart AS and you are then prompted for the Outlook profile again - bit of a pain, I know but better than unplugging the cable/disabling BT radio ... I tested it and it does work.. Download 'Resync' (Free) GL and do post if you find a better solution. Edited January 8, 2005 by gaplayer26
