Guest yoos Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 I mentioned this in the following thread, but I want to create a poll to see if others are having the same problem or not. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=ST&f=61&t=198504&st=0 Anyone else have this problem on an AUDIOVOX SMT5600 where you want to send a picture you just took with the camera via email and it doesn't work as described below? There is no way for me to attach a file to an email! This is what happens: 1. Take picture 2. Choose Menu > Send > Via E-mail 3. Select the email address I want to use and click select (or action button or number) 4. Now, it SHOULD open up a NEW message with the picture file ATTACHED, but it doesn't. Instead it is just on a blank screen with two soft keys (New and Menu). At this point if I go to New the file is not attached. I can change folders and see that it placed a blank message in my drafts folder (without the attachment). So it appears there is NO way for me to attach a picture file in an email!?!?  :D It does the exact same thing when I attempt to send via the Album or Smart Explorer! This sucks, because I can't send anything to my blog now! Anyone have any ideas? Can others verify this is or is not happening with their SMT 5600? Thanks!!!
Guest Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Not SMT5600, but SP3, but I'm hoping it helps some anyway. Take picture - menu - send - vi email - this brings up a screen titled "messaging", where the options are 1 text messages, 2 outlook email, 3 my email account, 4 MMS. Selecting my email account here brings up a new message ,with the photo attached. Haven't progressed it from here, but does this help at all??
Guest yoos Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 what you describe is exactly what i would expect to happen, but unfortunately its not.
Guest smeg36 Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 I did have this exact same problem with my SMT5600. I had to do a hard reset for a different problem, and reloaded most of the same software, and all of the same settings. The only thing I didn't put on there this time was Toki Tori, and now I can attach photos to emails. I don't know if it had anything to do with Toki Tori, or if it was just pure luck that it is now working. So try a hard reset and manually reload (not Sprite Restore, that didn't work for me) all your software if you can bare it.
Guest yoos Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Thanks smeg!! I am very glad to hear someone else had this problem and was able to fix it... I'll try another hard reset without using Sprite to restore....
Guest yoos Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 My problem is fixed! I did another hard reset as smeg suggested... I then tried to see if I could attach a pic to an email straight away and it worked. I then decided to try to restore with Sprite again to see what happens and now everything is working fine... I have my smartphone back to the way it was before the hard reset but with attachments working fine now... Thanks smeg!
Guest smeg36 Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Well, that is odd. No apparent reason for the problem. Sprite is great, isn't it. One of the first things I always do when I have a problem is hard reset, and restore with Sprite to see if that fixed it. When I had this problem, it didn't fix it. Glad it did for you.
Guest yoos Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 I'm GUESSING if I would have just did a hard reset and then restore with Sprite it still wouldn't have worked (since I already did that twice before). I beleive the key was to attach a file to an email before I did the Sprite restore... I actually had a similar strange situation happen to my PC before... I bought a PC and never used the dvd player at all for months. I installed tons of software within those 2 months and then I finally tried to play a dvd in the PC and it wouldn't work.... I tried everything to fix it and nothing would work so I restored my PC to the way it was when I bought it, then tried the dvd straight away (it worked then), then installed all my software again and everything was fine... weird....
Guest mpxkiller Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Humm...I just noticed that NOW I'm having this problem. I just reset my machine (the smartphone equivalent of the blue screen of death). While at the Rose Bowl (awesome game, btw), I wanted to send a pic to a friend of the mayhem after the game, but found exactly what you described; empty message with no attachment. This was the first time I noticed this since rebuilding the phone over the holidays. Hate to reset again since I just went thru the process of going all the way back to ATT and dragging my 5600 to Cingular land. May have to do w/out attachments. Killer
Guest yoos Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Yea, this is weird and it sucks... I need to remember to attach a file to an email immediately after booting the phone up after a hard reset before I do anything else to ensure attaching works.
