MPX200 SP2003 - Large File Transfer Issues

Hi,

Tried finding another example of this using the search function but didn't have any luck (probably being blind).

Basically I just bought an Mpx200 with 2003 on it and i'm having trouble when transfering large files (videos ~100-200mb) onto the 512mb sd card. The progress bar gets about 1/4 - 1/3 the way through, and sometimes resets a few times, but either way after about 10 mins of transfer activesync will go to disconnected.

Windows still knows the usb device is still there and makes the noise when the phone is detatched however i cant get activesync to reconnect without unplugging and plugging back the cable.

Is this one of the little quirks of 2003? If so is there any program to fix this?

Thanks.

It should work but others have problems as well I believe. By far the best solution is to invest in a card reader. These are inexpensive (less than £10) and the transfer speed is a lot faster tahn via the phone so for large files they are a boon.

It is common for large file transfers to timeout.

Things that can help reduce this is use the Activsync 3.7.1 or newer

also one trick is to use the soft keys just to wake the phone up every few minutes, that normally works for me :D

Definitely worth gettin a card reader www.ebuyer.co.uk do them for around a tenner or for £6.55 you can get an internal card reader drive. They seem to be doing free shipping at the moment too.

I have this one which is just fine and dandy! and a LOT faster than using the phone.

I'm running the latest verion of Activesync, and have the latest MPx220 firmware. I've got a 256Mb Sandisk mSD card in the phone, and it was nothing but trouble. Files appeared and disappeared as if by magic, and large file transferrs were hit and miss.

I read various threads suggesting this was a Sandisk problem, and that a PQI card would fix it. I resolved to buy a PQI card. Right now their website says a 1Gb mSD card was available! So I tried to find one at one of their distributers, no luck. Two phone calls and one email received no reply, so I decided to try to make the SanDisk card work.

I concluded that the card was corrupt, so I reformatted it in my computer (not in the phone) using FAT (not FAT32 as FAT was the original formatting and I couldn't find the technical spec for the MPx220 mSD format, so I just used what had been on the card originally). After fomatting, I sucessfully loaded numerous large files onto it, again from the computer, not via the phone. Then I popped it into the phone and Voila! everything works great! ;)

I have since installed numerous programs to the disk and they are also happy.

My conclusion - don't transfer files approaching 1Mb or larger via the phone and Activesync, use a card reader. If you have problems with a SanDisk card, re-format it using a Reader and load it up again, using a Reader.

Oh and, back up your card regularly. :D

Good Lcuk!
