Guest Terry21uk Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 When I try to install some free game programes on my SPV C500. I click on "I agree to" on the End user licence agrement screen on the pc but then when the programe trys to install on the phone I get This message on the phone. "Installation failed. The programe or setting cannot be installed becuse it does not have adequate system permission". What does this mean?
Guest squall Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 try decerting your phone by clicking on the letters OTA This is not required for all software, only some homescreens etc
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Ian. Thanks but i' don't know what you mean by this, can you explain please Terry
Guest blewer Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Click "HERE" OTA link didn't seem to work :D Adam
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Oh, i see. It's App ulocking. I thought the C500 came App unlocked as standerd.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Nope the C500 from Orange is application locked.
Guest G2k1boy Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Kind of a stupid question, but will the OTA thing work if you're using a SMT5600 on T-Mobile in the USA?
Guest Rapier Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 I have the same problem. Mostly with the .CAB files from various homescreens. The OTA link didn't helped me too much. I've followed the instructions but I got no unlocking. Maybe it is not working for my country ?! Also the app. lock is strange, if it is one. As I read on many posts and sites over the net, C500 comes application unlocked. Only SIM locked for some countries. It gives you a warning if you try to install an uncertified app. but after that it allow installation. I've installed many apps on in both certified and decertified and all worked... except those .CAB's (some of them are installing though) for which I got that "system permission" message Can anyone help? Many thanks
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Rapier. I tried to install the Longhorn home screen. I get the warning message about the softwear being uncertified and then it trys to install but then i get the "sytem permision message". I read that the PAYG Orange (uk) SPV C500 was not App locked but then again someone else said it is??
Guest Rapier Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Yes Terry you're right. Same here. The .CAB's from the homescreen themes are not installing and I got the same message. Maybe you are lucky and the link to OTA given before will work for you (and you can unlock your phone). Since I'm from other country I doubt.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 The C500 is partially locked, which is why you get the prompt. I understand that skins that access the registry, for start-up screens etc, need full unlocking.
Guest Confucious Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Yes Terry you're right. Same here. The .CAB's from the homescreen themes are not installing and I got the same message. Maybe you are lucky and the link to OTA given before will work for you (and you can unlock your phone). Since I'm from other country I doubt. Why do you say you doubt if it will work for you? If you bother to try (using passthrough) you would find out.
Guest GFROSTY Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 Hi all, I just found this site and have downloaded a few home screens, very nice ! But, I appear to be in the same situation as rapier and others.... When I try and install .cab home screens etc i get the system denied error. So what I am asking is how do I get to install these tyopes of homescreens? Thanks.
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Welcome to the forum  You need to application unlock your phone, as is detailed in this very thread. Have a read of this : http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=102618
Guest Terry21uk Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I have now got my C500 App unlocked through the Orange developers web site.Whilst I have not installed any home screens as yet, it does now seem to work with third part games ok
