Guest gladel Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Greetings! I got some questions here regarding beaming and Bluetooth settings: 1. Does enabling beaming drains battery? 2. In Bluetooth, what's the difference between "on" and "discoverable"? And which of these two drains batteries the most? Thanks in advance.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 1, Yes but if you have the C500 BT is handled better than in previous models. 2, On is as it says is ON so any bonded device can send and recieve data. Discoverable is as it suggests is ready to bond with new devices rather than just what is has previously bonded with.
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 btw is there any way to disable the irda on c500??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Why do you want to disable it? unless you are trying to send or recieve something it is not being used.
Guest udayan71 Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 hmm. anyway, i would keep bluetooth off. look at this article it is truly eye-opening. http://www.wired.com/news/privacy/0,1848,64463,00.html

I've read it and with the right gadgets, it might be possible. I might be off-topic, but is there a counter-measure for this to prevent it from happening to most Bluetooth users?
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 yes...disable bt...it's the only way...
