I have the c5oo - great phone by the way my p900 gets no useage whatsoever anymore - really didnt think i would find a p900 beater but the c500 is the one!!!

Anyway I have set up my smtp accounts with all the correct setting as directed by my email host yet i cant seem to send any mail i get the following error:-

the messages could not be sent verify that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct and then try again.

Does anyone have any idea what it may be my account details are definately correct as i can send mail with the seetings in my c500 on my laptop and p900...any hekp would be greatly appreciated.

I know i have a GPRS connection as i can receive

Welcome to the site :D

This is quite common. As long as you're sure all the settings are good, just keep trying. Eventually the connection will stick. For example, the Orange mainframe plays 'hard to get' with new connections. Perhaps it's something to do with the phone...

What are you using as the outgoing server? If you are on Orange, try changing it to smtp.orange, net as some service providers won't let you send unless you are connecting through them.

To confirm your settings try using passthrough on your laptop and making sure that works.

Good luck and welcome to the forums :D

cheers guys for the quick response. Im using my customermail.easily.co.uk smtp address which is working for my laptop mail. I even mailed my email host and they sent me the smtp ip address details and said use that as that may help but still no luck! Ive also tried using the internet pass thru connection via my laptop and active synch but still no luck. And finally i have tried the smtp.orange.net and still no luck! Im tearing my hair out...i really dont want to return to my p900 its just too big compared to the c500!

Same here. Tried different SMTP settings but it hangs during "Sending and Receiving" and then, after about 2 minutes ends with an error message saying I should make sure that I have network coverage (which I have) and all settings are correct (they are).

Called Orange. Apparently, it was the first time they heard about this error message, so they'll have to forward the issue to their technical team. I should hear back within maximum 10 days! 10 days? Are you kidding me?

Anyway, if anyone has a clue what the problem could be, please let me know.
