Headset and Ringer problem

Okay, I have the stereo headset for our phone and whenever its plugged in and the phone ring it only rings through the earpeices. is there any way I can make it ring through the phone's speaker? Its really annoying to miss calls if you don't unplug your earphones. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
