Guest Blakey Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Has anyone done this and wants to write a simple, step by step guide for the process? I am trying to get it set up and am failing at the moment. On Activesync on the JAM I am pressing Tools->Connect via Bluetooth and nothing happens. I press Tools->Options ans this allows me to select which machine I want to sync with. I select my PC (the only device in the list as it is all I have Activesynced with so far via USB) and I then click Options on that screen. This pops up a new screen which includes a combo box of options for how to connect. It has a bunch of baud rates and 'USB'. When I did this with my E200 I managed to get 'Bluetooth' as an option here too, and selecting it allowed my E200 to Activesync via BT. How do I get 'Bluetooth' as an option here? Or is there some other method? Many thanks Blakey
Guest Blakey Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I just searched the Net and found this useful page. I removed all trace of the JAM from the PC and vice versa and then followed this simple guide. Result: BT activesync in about 4 minutes flat. Good guide! http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417 Cheers Blakey
Guest mike-oh Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 the link doesn't appear to work
Guest mike-oh Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 oh and who can tell me how to set bluetooth up to use as short range wifi? i.e. i'd like to listen to music (and possibly watch videos) around the house aswell as browse the internet. Thanks, Mike
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 @mike-oh I can help as much as I'm able mate, but I am at work at the moment and dont have access to my settings and the like on how to set up BT Activesync. I know how to get it to work for wireless internet, but someone else will have to help you with streaming music via bluetooth. I will write up a little guide for you when I get home from work.
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Okay mike-oh, here we go: Basically what I did to get Bluetooth Activesync working is to follow the guide available for download in THIS POST. Although designed to show people how to do it with a C500, I found that by applying a little common sense to the setup process, you can mirror the steps it mentions on your I-Mate Jam. Remember, though the setup is slightly different, the principle behind this guide is the same, wether you have a C500, and I-Mate Jam or whatever. Follow what it says to do, and you WILL get BT Activesync working, with a passthrough connection which will allow you to share your internet connection with your Jam via Bluetooth. As for streaming music from your PC though, fraid I cant help there, its not something I have ever tried. Good luck!
Guest mike-oh Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Hey, cheers! Just managed to get active sync working actually! now for the pass through! Thanks again though, Mike
Guest mike-oh Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 oh it would appear the pass through just enables itself by default? do i need to be running active sync for this to work?
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 You are right, the passthrough is automatic as long as Activesync is running and the device is connected (and as long as you have checked the option "Allow my device to use this computers internet connection" in the Activesync options.
