Serious problem with my WM2003 smartphone

Hi guys,

Right now I've been using a Sagem MY-S7 running WM2003SE for about 3 months and I have some major issues that I hope someone can help me with.

1. The joystick is too darn sensitive and inaccurate. The joystick on this guy is 8/9-Way versus O2 XphoneII/I-Mate SP3 having 4/5-way joystick. Unfortunately while playing games is great choosing menus is a nightmare. So is text input especially with T9. Here’s an example:-

You use a database program like KeepTrack where you fill menus by selecting Left, Right to choose categories, Accounts, Dates etc. But instead of choosing the right category you end up moving up a selecting or worse accepting the entry (i.e. the press was detected as a button press) this happens without fail.

You try typing an sms/email. You realize you made a mistake in line 3 while you are typing line 5. Moving the cursor to the right place is nigh on impossible. Pressing up sometimes goes up/right diagonal. Left/right sometimes skips to the end of the line as if you pressed up/down.

T9 input is out of the question. You try type the "if" and the first option is "he" trying to press down to select he ends up either selecting "he" anyway and the cursor ends up either before or after the word.

The diagonal selection is impossible sensitive!!!

2. Instability. In the last 3 months I have hard-reset the phone 4 times. 1 Once because installing old Smartphone 2002 app on it. Later crashed while sms and it never recovered. Period. 3rd while using SP Task Manager... this is a random problem as I still us it now but without problems. Finally crashed while playing a game and the phone wouldn't detect Phone Network until hard reset. These are critical problems. Minor issues appear on a near every-other-day basis that needs to be solved via a reboot.

3. Network problems. Sometimes while sms/calling the phone disconnects and doesn't function properly anymore. Any sms out doesn't go properly. You don't receive any new sms. And you can't answer calls, trying to answer and the phone crashes trying to connect the call. The only solution to this that I have found is (Must be done in order):

a) Reboot

:D Select flight mode on (no network) - wait 1 minute

c) Go to settings and manually select your network provider - wait 1 minute

d) Flight mode off (normal mode) - wait until network appears.

It isn't a network problem since my other phones (Nokia) can have nearly full bar reception. The smartphone has about 2/3-bar reception.

Is there anyway that I can use a software hack to disable the 8-way joystick to reduce inaccurate selections. Forget games I just want to choose menus correctly.

The stability issues? Are there any ROM updates? Sagem support is none existent. I emailed but it seems no one there can read English. Their website still hasn't updated with the full specs for the phone after all this time. Network issues?

Anyone with the same phone, could you please tell me how you live with it...
