Guest wheelerch Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I've just bought a SPV C500 from Orange, and I have a copy of autoroute 2004. With autoroute you get a copy of pocket streets 2004, which trys to install onto my c500 via activesync but the phone says the software was not designed for this phone. At first i thought it could be because its only for pocket pc's but the microsoft website clearly states its for smartphones aswell "Microsoft Pocket Streets 2004 for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones" Clicky So why will it not work - would pocket streets 2005 work if i bought that? If not what street mapping / navigation software will work? Thanks - Chris
Guest Dr Forinor Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Look at the last question on this page; http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/poc...tphone/faq.mspx Suggest that those 2 are different, I was very dissapointed to learn that too. I need the 2005 version also, very stupid that IMO.
Guest wheelerch Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Yes i read that not long after asking the question, thanks anyway - its a bit unfair they bundle the pocket PC version with autoroute 2004 but not the smartphone version :D Now i'm going to have to go any buy more software! - Chris
Guest spenh Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 pocket streets in auto route 2004 is for pocket pc's only - you need to get the latest version of pocket streets or get autoroute 2005
Guest Dr Forinor Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Will Autoroute 2005 definitely have software that is compatible with SmartPhones?
Guest Dr Forinor Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 (edited) UPDATE: My friend said that the Pockets Streets from his AutoRoute 2005 worked on his SmartPhone (SPV C500) fine, so guys, go out and get AutoRoute 2005 :D Edited January 16, 2005 by Dr Forinor
Guest wheelerch Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Yup i now have autoroute 2005 and pocketstreets 2005 will install on the smartphone.... BUT to be honest its not that good, the mapping isnt too clear and you cant have the whole of the uk available at the same time... and you cant plan routes with it in the same way mapopolis could. I think I may try tomtom mobile next, is it possible to buy just the software without the gps receiver etc etc ?
Guest Dr Forinor Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Yeh, I had a go of my friend's SPV, it's nothing like AutoRoute on the PC but at least if you know where you are, you can't really get lost, but no, I agree, it's not all that great since you can't plan routes. You can't even plan a route in AutoRoute and then export it, shame. As far as I know, the software doesn't come alone for TomTom for the SPV. If you find anything else about it, please let me know aswell. :D
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 UPDATE: My friend said that the Pockets Streets from his AutoRoute 2005 worked on his SmartPhone (SPV C500) fine, so guys, go out and get AutoRoute 2005 :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The version that comes on the installation CD of Autoroute 2005 does indeed work on the Orange SPVC500 (at least it does on the one I bought a few weeks ago).
