E100 BUTTON FALIURE

I have two spv e100's (2002) For no apparent reason both phones keypad's have stoped working when in screensaver mode any number or joystick push lights up the screen but nothing else happens the power and record buttons are ok but the volume button is also faulty

i cant do a hard reset as the joypad does'nt work in bootloader screen either

have updated the rom from orange website which i think does a hard reset in the prosess but this did not work

after installing the updated rom i can no longer use remote display from my pc to control the phone (my other phone without the updated rom never worked with it)

the only other option which i have read is to remove the watch battery from inside the phone but it's stuck fast i may be able to remove and replace if i had a soldering iron but i don't

can anyone help untill this is resolved i am phoneless and desperate

some idiot went round pushing buttons in windows mobile developer power toys folder on pc but not sure how both phones are affected

When in bootloader mode you should be able to use the number keys.

Have you tried using the key to choose the ERASE IPSM option?

to enter the bootloader mode you need to press and hold the joystick key which does not work (even in bootloader mode) it says "press any key" and i have but it just goes to the canary screen

Have got other phone to work with remote display used orenta tester on it and it says the right soft key has been pressed when it hasent i think un sticking this will fix the problem but am still puzzeled as to why both phones got affected at the same time ???
