Audiovox SMT5600 - Backlight on Keypad

Has anyone found a way (hack software or utility) to control the timing on the backlight for the dialpad? The 3 - 5 second time just doesn't work.

Go under settings -> power management -> light sensor enable -> off

That will make it so the key pad functions like a normal phone :D
