Guest mikee66 Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Hi me again, I just ordered a 512Mb mini sd card for my phone. Now my mate showed me how to use dr divx to make movie files small for my fhone and i was wondering if there is a similar program for mp3's?? Btw another mate mentioned lowering bitrates???? Thanks again folks. Btw you'll have to be very simple in your answer as i'm new to this spv malarky   Mike
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Have you tried dbpowerAmp Music Converter? Its a freeware music converter which supports wav to mp3 conversion plus lots of encoding options. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

Now what settings should i use to make the files as small as possiblw whilst still sounding ok??
Guest Matt Kirby Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 For even smaller file sizes you should use Windows Media as the file format (which dbpowerAmp does convert to with a plug-in). However, you do then have to use Windows Media Player! :D Considering that your phone’s headphones won't be fantastic for sonic fidelity you can get away with quite low bit-rates for listening to things on the move – with Windows Media I convert to it’s lowest setting (48kbps), which takes about 20 -24 mb per album. I’d suggest converting one track to a few different bit-rates, loading them on your phone and then seeing which one sounds better.
Guest todd69 Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 (edited) Going to start calling you cloth ears Mikee :D Told you to use Windows Media Player when you were round at the house :D Todd Edited January 13, 2005 by todd69
Guest lukeap69 Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 i agree with matt. for music, you can use wma and 48kbps is alright. i used 64 kbps though using headset of SE P900. this headset + SAP (tanager) rocks!!! lukeap 69
