Guest todd69 Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Well contract renewal time has come around again and pondering what phone to get, I currently have the MPx200 and used the E200 before that but this time I would like to get the better half a smartphone as well. Reason being that we can then sync our calenders and contacts (maybe not a good thing  ) . Only problem is, the good lady really wants a clamshell, I'd like the 500  So the question is, can anyone recommend a good clamshell smartphone, for some reason the MPx220 aint around in the UK yet and the reviews aint that flattering from what I've read but willing to listen to a current users opinion. Do the symbians sync with outlook OK? Cheers Todd
Guest afhstingray Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 by the time a symbian finished sync-ing you'd have gone to work and returned  Sorry mate, your only option is to import a mitac from asia. The samsungs dont work on GSM as far as i know. You cant get them on contract tho.Moto always eventually fixes the problems, but then you have to go thru the hassle of reflashing the phone. I visited singapore this christmas, and i have to say i quite liked the mitacs.
Guest afhstingray Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/4755.html one of the newer mitacs
Guest TigerNet Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 ...I've seen that one on the Tottenham Court Road if I am not mistaken...where are you located todd69?? Cheers Nick
Guest afhstingray Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 its a pretty good looking phone. only drawback is a CIF camera, but then again, it depends on if you need a good camera. CIF is fine for MMS-es
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 The Moto MPX220 is supposed to be due out soon but more importantly whould your other half use the phone in it's full? If not and all she wants is a basic phone with calender etc but can also play music how about the MPX200? It may be a year old now but it's one of if not the most reliable smartphone available.
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Symbian sync isn't that slow, and in some ways is better than ActiveStink. The new Nokia Series 60 clamshells are worth looking at. The screen can swivel all the way round and lay flat. A bit like turning a clamshell inside out. If that makes any sense at all! :D Having said that, running ActiveSync and Symbian Phone Monitor would cripple most PCs!
Guest Confucious Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Get her a C500 - they're great :D Once she's played with it for a while she'll never want another clamshell :D
