Guest sidebp Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 (edited) Hi, Quick question - I'm thinking of getting a USB bluetooth adapter for my desktop pc - just trying to work out if its worth getting a 100m adapter or sticking with 10m? I want as larger coverage area as possible but have read that most mobiles use a lower powered class B transmitter and therefore are restricted to 10m anyway. Whilst I'm writing! Any particular recommendations for a USB bluetooth key? Thanks for any input. Edited January 14, 2005 by sidebp
Guest squall Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 for use with the phone there is no point getting a class a - 100m The phone will only transmit within 10m If you have other bt devices which are class a its worth getting a class a dongle Otherwise I wouldnt
Guest tsutton Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Both 10m and 100m are similar priced, so it might be better to get the 100m in case you have some other bluetooth device in the future.
Guest jleecong Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 (edited) I myself use a 100M dongle and would disagree that you can only go 10 meters even if the connecting device has a 10 meter range. I could use my iPaq 2150 from 50 yards easily but the PPC only had a 10M range. I will note that I haven't tried it with my Phone, as I prefer the faster data cable.
