Guest Russell@home Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I had a call from Orange customer service this evening (I had asked to be notified when the SPV M200 was back in stock) & was told that the M2000 had been withdrawn & the M1000 was discontinued (but I think we all knew that anyway) The person I spoke to also said that there were no new handsets awaiting testing/approval. Looks like O2 or T-mobile then if you want a smartphone.
Guest squall Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 m2000 is still coming to orange as far as i know!
Guest Russell@home Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 FWIW The person I spoke to was in retentions
Guest Pondrew Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Strange. Expect I would have had one of those calls but for the fact I got fed up waiting... Squall, why so confident?
Guest squall Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 just going by what ive been hearing! normally isnt far off
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 i don't think this is the end....because the phones have huge sucess.....maybe a little time off but i'm shure there will be a new model

Guest philgriffiths Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 thats the trouble with these damn phones... there is always something better out before you've even got your new toy out of the shop!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 This corresponds with what i've been hearing actually... P
Guest beersoft Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 now paul, is that an exciting bit of news for use, or you getting our hopes up just to dash them at a later date ? and just because orange dont have any phones on the 3 month release schedual, doesnt mean that there not coming out for the june/july lauch i want my mpx220 grrr.... later Owen
Guest squall Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 paul what did you mean in your first post? corrisponds that there wont be no more spv's or there will!?
Guest foxcot Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 I got told by Orange Customer Services that there were more Smartphones due to be released in February!
Guest Pondrew Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 I hope Paul means he's also heard (as you suggested Squall) that the M2000 is coming back...
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Surely we've all heard of the amalgamation of the Smartphone with other Windows Mobile products news ? Is this what we're talking about ?
Guest squall Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 no thats more a marketing thing really. We will still see devices which have smartphone features (one handed use with no touch screen, ie c500) and ppc style devices (touch screen with radio stack) Only there wont be formal seperation of the os's as there is at present. ie windows mobile 2003 se smartphone edition / windows mobile 2003 se phone edition (ppc's) It does seem the standard ppc with no radiostack may be nearing the end of its days (ipaq's etc) I think paul may mean he has heard the m2000 may not be coming to orange, ie seeing as its not on the current plan. WM is not dead. We can expect to see new handsets released in the uk this year!
Guest Pondrew Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Hmmm. Getting concerned now as had hoped Paul meant the opposite. Someone in another thread indicated that Orange Business customer services indicated the M2000 would be back in stock on the 19th. Here's hoping...
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Paul comes out with one enigmatic comment, and then we all run off through spiralling speculation into conclusions. Kind of reminds me of Monty Python's Life of Brian! :D

Guest peekie Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 over here in holland you can get the m2000 and on a normal contract also shortly the mpx220 so atleast over here the spv and smartphones are alive and will continue..so maybe in the future instead of booze runs to europe there will be spv ones
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) why don't u wait for paul to reply....and then you will figure it out... Edited January 18, 2005 by ga!nusha
Guest Chaser81 Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 I think it highly unlikely that Orange will discontinue the SPV range as it is well known and makes them a fair amount of money. I could see why they might not rush to get more SPV M2000's back in stock though. They probably dont want to be stuck with a ton of clearance when the "M3000" (or whatever Orange will call the Alpine) comes out about April time.
