Hi all,

Some advice needed. I have some MP3s which have a bit rate of 320KBps. I want to change this to 128KBps. Any advice how to do it with a programme (without burning to CD (or using original cd) and re-introducing, as I am a bit lazy :D )?

Acoustica works really well for me  It see's and organises all the music you have on your hard drive and then a few click's here and there, you'll be able to adjust your settings ! Since I got my iPod tho, I'm just using iTunes encoder the odd time. (Apparently this new form of music ". acc", is of better quality than .mp3 - also stops people "stealing" music too :?:

I don't have a C500 to try it on, but just tried it on the E-200 and no it doesnt work. iTunes converts the original MP3 to "MPEG-4 Audio File" and at the same time reduces its size by a third and reduces the bitrate from 192 to 128 :!:

squall -

I've just stumbled over this thread. Why not use WMP itself?

It will convert mp3 into wma's at the bitrate you select and these will play on your C500.

It depends on which player app you use. I prefer PocketMusic but this won't handle wma's yet so I just sync mp3's at the vbr >192. This does eat memory but sounds mighty fine :cheesy:

Hi Mcwarre, give this a go.

Its free, supports batch convert has numerous free plugin's available including OGG support and it will convert digitally signed WMA's into MP3 and you can normalise with this as well.

I havent found anything better than this and its completely free :D

But I would recommend MP3Gain for normalising MP3 files. dBpowerAMP will normalise when you convert but if you want to match the levels to already converted files you cant do that. MP3Gain will let you normalise and batch normalise and it supports Album gain as well. Guess what, its free as well :D

Two fantastic products perfect for ripping, converting and normalising just perfect for mobile music players and they are both free, what more can I say other than What are you waiting for!

Enjoy
