Guest Viruss Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 First of all, I'd like to say hi to all users of this forum, as this is my first post here. I just bought Motorola MPx200 at a bargain price, with an intention to use it for two purposes - as a phone and as a substitute for my MP3 player that just died. I was confused at first, took me a while to discover at least some useful features of the phone, but finally, I thought I was able to handle the phone quite well. But... this night I left the phone on (it was fully charged), and when I woke up (after about 8 hours of sleeping) the phone's battery was at just 60 percent of its capacity. My question relates to this (I don't know if it shouldn't be in Motorola MPx200 section, as it's half specific to it, and half general to all Windows Smartphone phones): How to close programs in Windows Smartphone? Many of them has no option like "exit" in menu, so I was just using the "back" key to leave then or "home" key to return to home screen. But this obviously left applications running in backround. Is there some other key combination to really close an application? How do these application affect battery life? I just installed Task manager and I found out that about ten applications were running (Windows media player, Photo Album, Internet explorer, File manager and some more) I would be glad for responses. Viruss
Guest squall Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 The best way to close applications is to use task manager! I would use the task manager from www.binarys.com welcome to the site
Guest Viruss Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Well, I thought that there's some easier way to do this, other than running some application to close the other, but thanks for answer. And for the second question.. do these idle applications affect battery life significantly, or there's some other problem wih my smartphone?
Guest Confucious Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Windows is designed to keep the programs running. You should not have to close any program and they should not affect battery life. As for the battery life of your phone i have no idea what the expected life should be as I have a C500 - sorry.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 MPx200 battery has always been poor from what I've heard. You have to get used to charging it overnight and, preferably, leaving it plugged in to your PC when it is convenient.

Well, this really didn't make me happy, it means that there's some other problem with my phone:(
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 As you bought it second hand, it might be a bad battery.
Guest Viruss Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 As you bought it second hand, it might be a bad battery. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually i didn't buy it second-hand. I'm sorry if i wrote it wrong in the first post, as I'm not from english-speaking country. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that when something is a "bargain", it generally means that it's price is low. The phone came in a original package, battery sealed in a plastic case, so I think it really was new...
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Sorry, my mistake. Did you give it a good initial charge ? I assume you did as this is not the first complaint I have heard about the MPx200 battery.

I assume you did as this is not the first complaint I have heard about the MPx200 battery. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No problem:) Well, I fully charged it when I received the phone, but I turned it on for a while to see if the phone works, during initial charge. Could this cause some problems?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Wouldn't have thought so as long as it was still charging
Guest Viruss Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Wouldn't have thought so as long as it was still charging <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, thanks for answers, I'll do more research on this problem, maybe battery gets to full capacity after few power cycles...
Guest Drewtech Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I've had an MPX200 for 15 months and always got at least three days on the battery. The battery will drain quickly if reception is poor and the MPx200 doesn't have the strongest signal detection. My new C500 works in parts of my house that the MPx200 wouldn't. If you don't need the phone during the night, switch to airplane mode and see if this helps.
