Sure you can:

Start > Settings > Data Connections > Internet Connection :D

As said above - yes you can use pass-through connection, but you will in no way be able to extend your BT through concretefloors etc.

Why not worthwhile? I use mine in other rooms in the house when I'm away from my PC and can't be bothered to fire up the lapptop.

I guess he means because of the short range of bluetooth. Unless you have a class 1 adaptor, you are lucky if you can get a signal outside of the room your adaptor is located in. Still, I find it handy for surfing while laying on my bed - saves me having to sit at my desk to use the net, but then I am just lazy!

I'm not sure Im understanding this fully!

So by changing the settings (as above) I can use my C500 to browse the net using my PC broadband connection through USB?

Thats great if I'm getting it!!

Thanks.

You can yes and if you have a bluetooth dongle, you can happily use it to connect all round your house (assuming it's not built of granite like mine, in which case you can only use it is certain areas. But hey it's OK my PC is by the window so the signal goes out into the garden. Roll on summer.

Yes, another good use it sending emails. When im in school or on my way to school i write emails and when i get home i just click send receive, theyre sent and i get to read my inbox too. quite convenient

Does this work using the USB cable as well?

Certainly does.

Certainly does.

But not in the garden or another room unless you either have a very long cable or you drag your PC round with you.....

True, I wonder what the longest commercially available cable is? I can't get my bluetooth to work upstairs.

But that's a PocketPC device until you can't get WiFi on Smartphones (yet) and if you want a PC - you might as well get a laptop. I'll stick to my C500 with BT.

@Alex_le_brit - I was joking! I don't believe you can get long USB leads, certainly not long enough to reach upstairs. Your best bet is to move to a modern house where the walls are made of paper then you should have no problems

Actually I just found a 10 metre male-female extension lead at my local France Telecom shop. With this I can plug my bluetooth dongle in upstairs.

When I restored the house I used large bore cable trunking, so I can run the wire up into the roof space, where the signal will happily travel through the thin plasterboard.

I did a quick test when I came in and just ran the cable up the stairwell, and noticed an improvement in signal distance outside the house as now all it has to do is punch through the thin slate roof instead of the 3 foot thick granite.

As the main thing I wanted to do was have bluetooth upstairs, and in the garden this is perfect for me. If I'm downstairs I can use my PC anyway.

A bit drastic maybe, but why not have a wirefree house?

A 10M cable! Wow! I must admit I am impressed, I am suprised they work most cables deteriorate in performance the longer they get. Glad you found something that works
