Guest Osaris Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 (edited) I'm currently programing a freeware game for Smartphone and Pocket PC for a contest and I need someone to draw the graphics. Description of the game: you must reach the exit by moving some blocks. You should download the first beta of the game to understand well: DukWite Beta 2 - 96 Kb - only one test level Here is a screenshot: Pocket PC version: DukWite Beta 2 for Pocket PC - 150 Kb Contact me if you can draw some different graphics (block, exit, wall, character and background, and also a splashscreen) Thanks in advance PS: you can also post your comments about the game Edited January 17, 2005 by Osaris
Guest McHale Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 I just downloaded both versions and haven't had a chance to install and run them, but from the screenshots, the graphics look good. The background looks great, the blocks look great, the sinister elf is awesome... Are you looking for *DIFFERENT* backgrounds and block types for different levels? Like an underworld theme for level 2 and a cityscape for level 3, etc? Otherwise, there's nothing I would change (from the pics). Can't wait to get these installed. Looks great! -Mc
Guest Osaris Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 (edited) Yes, I would like to have 3 or 4 set of graphics for differents environment, with 3 or 4 levels for each environments. PS: sorry for my bad english, I'm french Edited January 16, 2005 by Osaris
Guest McHale Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I'm sure there will be some to help. I would love to, but you are by far a better computer graphics artist than I am. Unless you want stick figures and unidentifiable objects, I probably won't be much help. BUT... Out of curiosity, what are the specs for the graphics? What is the pixel range for what items? I will give it a shot. A cool level might be a night level where the background is black with stars on the horizon and just moonlight to show the objects... I dunno. I ramble a lot. -Mc
Guest Osaris Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) Pocket PC version: 32*32 and 240*256 for the background Smartphone version: 24*24 and 176*192 for the background Edited January 18, 2005 by Osaris
Guest nobznss Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I'd love to test it... afterall that's my job. I work doing software testing and development. I'd love to be your tester.
Guest McHale Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I've been playing the game tonight on my ppc. I had a couple problems: 1. NO way to die and start from some beginning 2. Too difficult to pick up items and drop them where you want them using ONLY the 4-way pad. How about a button to pick up and drop and use the 4-way for navigating 3. if you place a ball on top of another item, you can't pick it up again and you can't climb over it. Too easy to get yourself stuck. And when you do, the game keeps you there and you have to kill it and start over. that's all I have for now... -Mc p.s. what might not be a bad idea for backgrounds since yours doesn't scroll, why not just use actual pictures of scenes - street scenes, night scenes, country scenes, etc. Easy enough to do and there's plenty of pics out there. In fact, you can take them with your digital camera in your phone. Would be cool if you could choose the backgrounds yourself in some settings option so you could have a picture of your girlfriend or your favorite car or whatever you want...
