Missing texts on SPV C500?

I have noticed that a few minutes after I've sent a text that the backlight on my C500 will come on for a few seconds, and then switch off. I'm beginning to think that the phone is trying to receive a text, but fails to do so :D

What has lead me to this is that on some occasions, I've only received either the first or last part of a text (those long one's that have more than 160 characters). I've tried switching the phone on and off to see if it'll receive them, but this doesn't work. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
