Guest timmer Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I got a brand new C500 on Friday. Charged it up and was pretty happy with it. I had heard it had very good battery life but was amazed that I had used it all weekend and it was still on the full 4 bars on the battery indicator. However, late Sunday night the phone warned me that the battery was low and then switched itself off. So basically, the battery indicator doesnt seem to work. It goes from full bars when there is some charge to nothing when the battery is flat. There is nohing in betweeen. This will make the phone unusable as I will never know when it needs charging until it is too late. Is there any solution to this ?
Guest cr0bar Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 try a hard reset.. might fix that problem =)
Guest timmer Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 try a hard reset.. might fix that problem =) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just tried it after searching the forum on how to do a hard reset. Will see if it makes any difference. Here's hoping.....
Guest Lojt Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 The battery indicator might be a bit wrong for the first couple charges, you should give it some time to calibrate properly.

Never had a problem with any of my older phones. I have just fully charged the phone and done a hard reset. Then I have left Betaplayer playing a looped video file. Battery bar still on maximim after an hour which seems a bit odd to me. Should be down to 3 bars by now surely ?
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Timmer, give it a chance to settle down a little. Mine had a funny three days after I'd owned him for months where the battery meter was all over the place - showing full, then one bar, then three, then full again, then switching off. Next time I fully charged it, it went back to working perfectly and has ever since. Have a look on Binarys website: Binarys website And download their excellent "Task Manager". Set it to option 3 (showing battery meter, free memory, etc.) then set it on a speed dial. Now you've got an easy way to check a percentage figure for the battery to tell quicker if it's doing strange things. I know you can get some homescreens that have a % on it too, but from my SPV Classic days I remember these halved my battery life, so I now try to avoid them. Good luck, and hopefully your phone will be a loyal friend to you for months to come - once he's gotten used to his own battery!
Guest timmer Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 The battery indicator seems to have sorted itself out. However, there was a battery warning this morning, so I started charging it. Well under an hour later the green light came on to suggest it was fully charged. This cannot be right can it ?
Guest tsutton Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Let it go totally flat (i.e play games, etc etc) and then charge it up fully (manual says 2.5 hours for full charge, Orange page 12) See if it's any help.
