Guest jimh Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I have a C500 and I'm generally very happy with it except it seems a bit slow. I initially thought this was just normal but now my wife has the exact same phone with the same software etc. Her phone just feels much faster than mine, especially booting up and moving around the menus. Does anyone have any suggestions here (I have already though about secretly switching phones with her)! I am considering a hard reset on my phone to see if this improves matters. Both phones are running the same version of Windows etc.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I'd try a hard reset and, if that doesn't improve things, consider taking it back for a replacement.
Guest pietta Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 get a large mini sd card 128+ and store ur files there. i suspect its lack of memory especially when you install too many apps. mine has 85kb left on internal storage and it started acting up
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 If you try the hard reset, followed by putting your programs onto your Storage Card after the reset, and it still seems to lose out on the speed stakes to someone else's phone, there is still one avenue to try. Go onto Custom Cabbage's site: Custom Cabbage And make up a "Speed boost" and "Speedy menus" CAB. Then install it on your phone (it will need to be unlocked OTA from the Orange Developers site otherwise it'll come up "Insufficient privelidges"). I did this on my old SPV Classic, and did it again with my C500 a few days ago and have noticed a difference. Obviously, this is papering over the problem at best, and just a placebo at worst. It may just seem faster because I'm looking for a change, but it's worth a shot at the very least and gives you a very nice warm, glowly, my-phones-cooler-now-cos-of-something-I-did feeling! :D
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Re-reading my posts afterwards, I always come across as a real sad case. Is that why none of the other children want to play with me in my padded, white room?
Guest jimh Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I managed to complete the hard reset and what a great difference it has made. The phone is almost instant now and I'm fairly certain that I have reinstalled all my apps in exactly the same places as before. I already had a 1gb card before so I have plenty of storage space. Even TT mobile is much faster now. I wonder what was wrong with my phone originally? It was always slow straight out of the Orange box and it was only when I compared it to another that I realised there was something wrong.
Guest xandercom Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Straingley enough I recently upgraded my c500 to the latest orange rom and find the t9 to be allot slower.. almost as bad as my old t68i was back in the day.. no seriously with this rom i can finish my sentance, put the phone down, and still have time to dance while the phone finishes displaying what I have just written...
