Guest gingerm Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 The real problem with battery life isnt the hardreset or anything else that i have see in many forums. The real problem is the SIM CARD. The battery life depends on the sim card (how old is the sim card). The old technology sim card need more power and have many problem with MPX200. I have a sim card about 5-6 year old (VODAFONE GREECE) and with this card my MPX200 battery lasts 1 day and the speakerphone didnt work. I test my phone with a new card 1 year old (COSMOTE GREECE) and my battery lasts 3 days and the speakerphone work. In my country (GREECE) Vodafone work at 900MHz band and COSMOTE at 1900MHz band. I think the battery life also depends on the band that sim card work (1900MHz is the better). I try to send 1 photo from both sims card to see the difrents. The sims card solves the problem with speakerphone too that didnt work at WM2003. I have try many time to solve the problem with hard reset with 100% battery but always the same my battery have 1 day life. Whene i test my phone with the new sim card (COSMOTE GREECE 1900MHz) without do anything the battery lasts 3 days :D :D :P and speakerphone work   (very good speakerphone). (speakerphone problem is only whene you make a call)
Guest squall Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I dont think this is the major problem for most users. I can understand in greece as the signal strenght may not be as good etc etc leading to the phone requiring to use more power to connect with the network In the uk (us isnt great for sig strenght) I dont think this is a significant factor The full battery on hard reset is a good idea on all sims in any country, it seems that it DOES make a difference.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Welcome to the site :D but no need to shout in your title :D What you were experiencing is poor signal which will drain the battery faster because when the phone has to hunt for a signal it will use more power. The Hard Reset trick works for people using the same SIM not different ones so unfortunately you are slightly off the mark with your claim :P
Guest gingerm Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) I discover this problem when i upgrade my phone to WM2003 (the speakerphone didnt work) and my battery before has life about 1day. The only thing that i did was to change the sim card from another provider (that have new tech sim card. my card is very old). I dont tell lie my phone now have 3days battery life and the speakerphone works (before didnt work when i try to make a call but at windows media player worked). I think the problem is on sim card (very old sim card 5-6 years old). With my new sim card i dont have any problem. i dont tell that i find the sollution for all the users that have mpx200 but this work for me. Edited January 18, 2005 by gingerm
Guest bigfootpete Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Ginger - people were also complaining about the three days battery life, better than one day but still not great when compared to other phones...
