Guest atamir Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Hi All, So i've been having this problem on and of...my pop3 email says downloading 1 of 10, then 2 of 10 etc. etc. but sometimes only one email header appears, sometimes more than one, and sometimes all of them. Any ideas? Also, What should my outgoing pop3 setting be? i currently have it set with smtp.mydomain.com, but its not able to send using that... Thanks!
Guest Confucious Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 No idea why it's not downloading but for the outgoing server should be smtp.orange.net while using gprs. the drawback of using this is the fact that you have to change it back to smtp.mydomain.com when using passthrough.
Guest atamir Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 I'm actually using an SMT5600 on T-Mobile in the US. I'm trying tosend email from my web sites pop3 account (which is where i am receiving email from)....any ideas?
Guest Confucious Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Sorry, I should have asked. Use t-mobs smtp server. Lots of ISPs won't lrt you use their servers unless you are connecting through them. HTH
Guest atamir Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 so is there any workaround for this? it kinda stinks not to be able to reply to the emails i receive - defeats the purpose of this phone as a business tool. Thanks.
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Confucious is right about the SMTP settings for your ISP. Your choices really are: 1) Get the SMTP settings for the mobile network you are using, or 2) Pay for an SMTP service from somewhere else (I use plus.net), or 3) See if your web hosts have a different SMTP setup (it's not always smtp.mydomain.com) There's a thread around here somewhere with loads of different provider settings in it. That might be quicker/easier if the phone wasn't supplied by the network you're trying to use it on.
Guest Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 (edited) As for the download problem, do you delete messages on the device? This caught me out for a while - lets say I have 10 messages, and delete 6 of them. Next time I send/receive, assuming no new emails have arrived, it'll still say receiving 10, but 6 of the 10 are just deleting the 6 you've deleted ( if you selected "empty deleted items"). I used to think that meant 6 new messages, and didn't know why no new ones appeared. Does this make sense at all? As for sending via the networks smtp server, it works fine for me when repying to emails received. Don't think you'll have a problem there. Feel free to PM/IM me if I can help more - I'll do my best! Guest scottb Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 If T-Mo doesn't have an smtp server for you to use, try smtp.com. I use that on VZW service for $30 per year.
Guest Confucious Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Presumably as atamir hasn't replied for a couple of days he's already found the US T-Mob smtp server is myemail. t-mobile.com
Guest atamir Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Presumably as atamir hasn't replied for a couple of days he's already found the US T-Mob smtp server isĀ myemail. t-mobile.com <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm, sorry, i just havnt been able to check over the last few days - but a huge thanks for all the tips? Confucious: When you say "myemail.tmobile.com" is it supposed to be "myemail", or am i supposed to fill something in there? I'm not using a tmobile email address, i'm using the address for a website that i run....I'm slightly confused :D Thanks!
