Ok, help!

Turned on my SPV (original model) and the Orange homescreen appears, but then the phone won't get past this.

Have tried the hard reset, but nothing doing.

Anyone know anything that will help?

Cheers

Tried it three times, I am guessing it is not having it!

ROM upgrade? sounds horribly complicated. How would I do this without being able to turn the phone on properly?

Cheers for your help

I've not done it myself but I believe that ActiveSync does not need to recognise the device. If you run the ROM upgdate it should work anyway. Check the pinned topic at the head of this section - the 'revive after 1.6' crash one.

Possible things why your PC don't recognize your devie:

1. Corrupted Active Sync. Try re-installing your Active Sync software (PC Related)

2. Your phone did not have a successful upgrade of the ROM so there was no really OS on the device to interact with the PC connection.

3. ;) No Active Sync program on the device, but I believe it does always have the Active Sync in it! ;)

I agree, its important not to push your phone to much cuz if it breaks, I duno whats going to happen, these things are expensive!

Thanks for your help but unfortunately Im still no further forward with the phone just to explain again when I turn the phone on I get the orange sunrise/set pic and then the phone seems to go dead, the light on the top left hand side turns off and the only thing i can do with the phone is disconnect the battery otherwise it just stays lit up on that orange screen. I originally did the rom upgrade a long time ago and had no problems until the other morning when I noticed it had stuck on that orange screen. Active sync is fine as I also have a E200 and it works ok with that but just doesnt recognise my original spv anymore. I have however reinstalled it just incase on the pc.

I have had to revert to my old nokia phone for the time being but this is really driving me mad. I am due to upgrade soon but am begining to wonder if the spv is worth all the hassle.

Thats bad... How long have you waited? Maybe it just needs some time to configure and boot up itself.

I think your ROM upgrade wasn't that successful. Can you still go to the 3-color Canary Screen?

Try upgrading the phone with other ROMS, if it worked then it could be that the ROM you had just upgraded(previous) was a corrupted ROM.

I cant do anything with my phone it just doesnt respond at all. I upgraded the rom must have been over a year ago before I got the E200 which was about a year ago now.

I give up, thanks for all your help.

Did you first try a hard reset (erase IPSM) of the phone ?

You cant actually break a phone by trying to upgrade it. Unless your names Florin ;)

I have brought around 50 SPV's back to life including one with nothin on it.. I mean when it booted it just stsayed on a blank screen. Keep trying you'll get ther. PM If your stuck

I would just like to say I finally managed to get my original spv to work again I dont know what I did different but got it to go on the canary screen and did the rom update and hey presto it works. Only downside now is I couldnt back up my contacts etc so have to send them from my E200 to my old phone but thats a small price to pay to finally have my phone working again.

Just like to say thanks again to everyone who tried to help and Im a happy girl.

star-girl goto the orange updates section in ya phone and see if contacts wiz is available. then allow incoming beams on your E200 and your old spv "should" suck all of your contacts off the E200 and place them on tyour SPV. also do the orange back up every couple of weeks. this has got me out of loads of accidents. even when abroad
