Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 In the FAQ and Aticles sections there are some good guides that can help you do just what you want :D The topic in the Articles section also incluses some applicatinos you can use to convert some movie files. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=116545
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 THanks guys, i'll check it out
Guest mike_freegan Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Ok, I have tried almost every video viewer for the c500 and have come to a surprising conclusion! The BEST, clearest playback I can recieve, coupled with the SMALLEST file size is.... ...Media player that was provided with the phone for free! Also, no extra software required on you PC so you don't need to worry about unstable applications and spyware ofn phone or PC! Simply use the Windows Movie Maker (free with XP). Drag and drop the video into the Movie Maker window. Then drag the thumbnail of the movie into the storyboard at the bottom (with a little practice you can set in/out times too). Next choose File > save movie file. Follow the instructions, but change the file type to pocket pc 218kbps (NOT full screen). On my C500, this plays perfectly to the edges of the screen, and the file looses VERY little quality in compression (almost no blockiness), far better than any of the other converters and players I used. The file size of the output is VERY small for the quality aswell! Only negative points: No fast forward option on smartfone media player. Can't change audio quality from pocet PC default. OPTIONAL: What you can do is "import" the file you want to convert through the XP file menu. This will split the video into "chapters" If you are watching a film, repeat the above steps for each of the chapters created and name them in order (ie Matrix1, Matrix2), and set the media player on your phone to "auto fullscreen videos". This way you hardly notice the transition. Hope that's helpful -Mike
Guest Confused Stu Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Thanks for the info Mike - I've always used DivX for transfering films and that over to the phone, but I'll give WMV a shot next time I do one. In return, here's something you should find useful. It's called Betaplayer and originally it was just for playing DivX files. However, the author has been playing with it and the latest version (0.5) now plays pretty much every kind of file - including WMV's!!! Why use it over WMP on the phone? It's got much more useful controls, including fast forward and rewind. Give it a shot and I defy anyone to be anything other than amazed with this FREE piece of software: http://betaplayer.corecodec.org
Guest sergelarin Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 have compressed 40meg into 6 meg file .wmv but can only play it in windows media player , betaplayer does not even see that file in my folder??? what have i done wrong? any ideas?
Guest martin Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 What version of Betaplayer are you using ? Version 0.5 has WMV playback built in.
