Guest DomConway Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Evening all Couple of questions on my new C500 (which I'm loving to bits): 1) Is there any way of changing the default number for a contact in Outlook so this synchs with my C500? The only way I can find to do it is to go into the contact on the handset and choose Menu / Set As Default with the item I want selected. Would be much easier if I could work thru my contacts doing this on the PC... 2) On Outlook on the PC I can change the File As to alter how a name is displayed. I can't figure how to do it on the handset - eg how would I get Pete Johnson to display as that rather than as Johnson, Pete? The only way I can find is to alter it in Outlook then synch with the handset. Any ideas on these greatly appreciated.
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Hi Dom. I'm sure someone who knows more than me will be along in a minute to answer, but until they do: 1) Not that I know of mate - I think doing it the way you describe on the phone is the only way. 2) In each contact on the phone, go into Edit, then scroll down just past custom ring tone and you'll see the File As field. Just press right (or might be left!) until Johnson, Pete changes to Pete Johnson. Good luck dude, and I'll keep an eye on this in case someone comes up with an answer for question 1! :D

No way that I know of to do it in Outlook, but here's a quicker way to do it on the phone: Open the contacts list and press your joystick left/right. You'll see that the letter to the right changes (i.e. the default number). This saves the hassle of opening each contact, so you can get it done in a couple of minutes (unless you have zillions of contacts :D ).
Guest lighthouse82 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 (edited) tudor's method is far quicker than anything in outlook could be. Edited January 21, 2005 by lighthouse82

You can do it on Outlook, but doesn't look like there's any way of doing it on the handset. Another one of those shortcuts they don't think to tell us about in the manual but would potentially save us huge amounts of time / effort. Cheers!
