Guest andyhud Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Hi all I'm off to Canada next week (I live in the UK) and I own an MPX200 and wondered if it would work over there? I've got a Nokia 8910i aswell which I don't use and so if the MPX200 doesnt work in Canada does anyone know on the off chance if the 8910i will work over there? Many thanks Andy
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 If you have a UK MPX200 it will be tri-band so you should not have a problem. On the otherhand if you have the AT&T MPX200 it will only be dual-band and so will be missing the 900Mhz band which may be a problem.
Guest andyhud Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 (edited) My MPX200 is a UK version. at least I'm 99.9% sure it is. The box says GSM 900/1800/1900 and the imei matches on the box to the imei on the phone. Only thing is that it has had the WM2003 upgrade. Could this affect it? Many thanks for your reply Andy. Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 The 2003 Rom will not affect what bands the phone can recieve.
Guest mike-oh Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 From my experience this summer....yes it will work! I was in the rockies and it worked fine. The only minor gripe is that it wouldn't/couldn't pickup the Telus network which my uncle (who lives there) was on. I think Telus must work on the band the phone can't get. Unfortunately Telus seemed to have the best coverage in the rockies. Anyhow, yes it'll work!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 It was probably the CDMA 850 band which apparently is a very good signal.
Guest poutinemaster Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Hi, I'm living in Montreal and I have an unlocked MPX200 which I buyed on eBay (USA). I use Fido as the service provider, but also could use Rogers (they are more expensive...). The device works perfectly here... 8)
