Guest xerxes Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Hi, Has anyone else seen this problem? I had a C500 that developed some problems in it's first week. So I backed the phone up to SD, changed it for a new one, re-did the SIM unlock and the security unlock, and restored the backup to the new phone. After the restore some of the programs will not run when I click on the start menu link. They usually give an error like "There is no application associated with <>. Run the application first and then open this file inside the application." I have tried reinstalling one of the programs (RJV SendContact) and running it from the new version of the short cut and it still doesn't work. Can anyone see a remedy short of a hard reset and reinstalling everything? Thanks in advance.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 You could try the Sprite support forum but my guess is that something got corrupted on the old phone. Then you backed it up and restored it to the new phone. That is the drawback of a total backup I suppose :D So you're going to have to start from scratch andd hard reset I'm afraid unless someone knows better. What would be good is if you had a Sprite backup file from before the original problems.
Guest xerxes Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 In my continuing quest to make my C500 a bit more robust I have hard reset it and reinstalled all the progs I was using. Nearly everything is working very well. The only execption is... you guessed it, Sprite Backup. When I try to initiate a new back up it tells me "Sprite Backup cannot run on an unlocked Smartphone" and asks me to reinstall using the unlocked version. After reinstalling I can run the backup prog but a couple of days later the problem recurrs. Needless to say this is leaving me a bit twitchy about whether I can reply on this device (which I otherwise absolutely love by the way). If you can't rely on your back up solution... Has anyone else seen this problem with Sprite Backup? If so did you find an answer? If not are there any alternatives to Sprite? Might this be happening because I haven't registered the software yet? I hope somebody can help.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 It might be a false warning screen instead of the registration reminder. I've not had problems with the full version. There is no alternative I'm aware of
Guest dreamsurfer141 Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Xerxes, there is an alternative you could give a try, and its $10 less... Its Smartphone ALL-Backup from these people. All-Locations (they also do a GPRS tracking tool which is quite useful) I found Sprite to be the better backup solution of the two due to the backup to PC service, however, using ALL-Backup theres no reason why you can't backup to the SD card then transfer the file yourself. Let me know how you get on as I still haven't decided on which one ot go for...
Guest xerxes Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Thanks for the pointer Dreamsurfer. I take a look.
