Guest Karachi Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I currently have some problems when installing games and programs to my smartphone. (QTEK 7070) My problem is that when i am using a installer file in windows i always have to little storage left on my telefone. If i use a cab-file I can very easy install the program directly to my storage card. If i use a installer my programs always creates a temporary cab file. Is there any way I can install the file and place the cab file on my computer or install the cab directly to my storage card?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Welcome to the site :D The temp files you may be refering to in the IPSM folder are needed as they contain the uninstall information needed if ever you want to remove the install application or game. If you remove these fiels you will no longer be able to uninstall properly. After an installation amy cab files are automatically deleted unless you set them for read only.
Guest Karachi Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Thanks for the welcome. Can I extract the installation to a cab and install it from the storage card folder?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 If you run the installer without an ActiveSync connection it will leave the cab on your PC for when you next connect. Whether this will cause problems later I don't know. I suppose you could cancel the installation the next time you connect if it fires up again.
