Guest Alex_le_brit Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I know it's been discussed endlessly and the consensus from those who know is that while the hardware is all there to fit an SDIO bluetooth/wifi card into an SPV, the software drivers aren't there. Well the other day, I stumbled across a site for these and sat there on the site was the SDK download. If someone knowledgeable had the developpers kit, would they be able to write drivers? and even better would they be able to write drivers for Smartphone 2002? If all this is possible, and not too difficult, I'll wade through my history to find the file again, or spend a half hour Googling. If not I won't bother.
Guest Confucious Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 It is to difficult and I doubt vey much if it will ever happen. There are some beta drivers which have never been released and I don't think will be now. Wait until WM2005 comes out with built in WiFi support.

Guest Alex_le_brit Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Technically it is possible, theres just no market for it... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I'd but one for a start. Looking at the Socket communications website HERE I see they're making SDIO bluetooth and wifi cards for a range of mobile phones, why would there be no market for the same things for SPV's. Or is it another case of wait and then pay huge amounts of money for the new upgrade? I know I for one am the type who'll settle on a piece of hardware, upgrade the peripherals, and then the software, and then only buy new hardware when I'm really out of date. OK so companies don't make a huge lot of money out of me, but they make some money, and as Socket Communications already make these cards for a range of mobile phone and windows CE apps, how difficult is it? I guess HTC were clever to build a Mini SD card into the C500 behind the battery, that way it instantly killed any addition of such peripherals, and meant that developpers don't bother.
