m2000 WiFi Internet Problem

I've had my m2000 for over a month now and am still unable to connect to the Internet using my WLAN at home. I have a reasonable (mid strength) WiFi connection on the m2000 and have added its MAC address to the Router's configuration, but when I try and connect to a web page it keeps coming up with the error message "The page you are looking for cannot be found". Does anyone have any ideas as its really winding me up now?!?! Is it something on the m2000 or do I need to change the router settings? Cheerz DJ ](*,)

I had this problem with my M2000 and iPaq 5450, I called both Orange and Netgear who 'blamed' each other, in the end I changed the WiFi SSID name and it all worked, can't remeber how I did it though

To see if it is the M2000 find your nearest hotspot and see if the phone finds it.

I've found that when connecting using a WLAN, I need to go into 'Network Management' and have the following selections:

(1) "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" - 'My ISP' (dialup, gprs or similar, even if I don't have a usable dialup account)

(2) "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" 'my WiFi'

Then tape 'Edit...' for 'my WiFi' (or whatever), go to the 'Proxy Settings' tab and try toggling the 'This Network connects to the internet' check box.

You may also have to witch off then switch on your WLAN for the settings to take effect.

Basically, whenever my device detects a new WiFi network, I tell it to connect to 'Work' not 'the internet'

Also, download vxIPConfig and use it to check if you are getting an IP address from your Access Point/Router

I had my router set to transmit in "g" only mode even though I had everything else set correct. Since the phone only uses "b" I had to set the router to b and g. Simple but that was my problem The phones works great with WPA.

I can't believe it - after all that I just went to the proxy server set up for 'work' connection and checked the internet box and its working!!! Its a bit confusing as WiFi says its connecting via 'the internet' not 'work'.....but hey who cares its finally solved the problem so thanks peeps!! DJ :D

I did this for mine too, discovered it before I found things on the forums, however I have noticed an interesting bug, every few days I'll connect to my home wifi and that magic "This connects to internet" box will have become unticked, without me requesting it...

So bear that in mind, if it suddenly stops working, you might have to re-tick that box!

Do you have a ping program on your PPC? Try pinging the IP address of the network card that is plugged into the router.

One of two things are likely to be broke; your WiFi, or your internet sharing. If the ping works, it's the latter one.

I havent received my MDAIII yet, but I already have an iPaq.

To connect to any Wifi network I use pocketWiNc as it does most of the settings for you!
