Yes it is. Just go to start, settings, sounds. Go down to 'New SMS Message' and just press the action key to bring up the sounds list and pick one. Any sound you download as a ringtone can also be used for any other alert inc the alarm clock as well. How cool is that!

Hmmm. Sorry about that. I don't store my sounds on my storage card, they are stored in the phone memory in 'my documents'. If you don't allready know how to do it you could try this. You could try copy & paste from the storage card to my documents useing active sync. Select the storage card folder, open it & find the ringtone you want to copy right click on it & click copy. go back to phone memory, click on it & you will see the my documents folder, don't open it, simlpy paste the ringtone into the folder. that should do it.

Spoke to Orange and the only tones that can be changed are the ringtones the others cant be changed and only the installed ones can be selected.

Absolute rubbish but no surprise.

As Terry21uk says above, you will need to store the SMS tones on the phone itself although the folder to put them in is \Storage \Application Data \Sounds.

They need to be wav files and PCM-formatted. If the wav file doesn't show up in the Settings selection, copy them back to your PC and use Windows Sound Recorder to reformat them. You will find that program in Accessories, Entertainment.

thats rubish!

just put the sound files (WAV or WMA) in Storage/Application data/Sounds

You can only use WMA's for ring tones.

Not for SMS notification or alarms etc.

Not sure what the difference is :?:
