Guest m444rcus Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Hi, I'm off to the good old USA in about a months time and I'll be doing a lot of driving. I plan on buying the Tomtom mobile, but I wanted to know if it is possible to also buy the US maps and also get them working on the phone? Should be the same, right? Cheers Marc
Guest mcwarre Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Hi, Welcome :D I know that you can buy additional maps for TomTom for PDAs. I am not sure if you can buy compatable additional maps for TTM. Best bet is to contact TomTom.
Guest m444rcus Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Hi, thanks for the reply. Tomtom don't seem to want to reply to my question... Can anyone else help me further? Cheers
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 As for as I am aware there are no USA maps available for the phone version of TomTom.
Guest m444rcus Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I know there's not, I was thinking along the lines that the ppc maps that you can buy would somehow work? I thought I read a little something about ppc uk maps working on the phone, but I cannot find the post...
Guest bulderhart Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I was looking at the same option. I've read in several fora that TT3 maps are supposed to be compatible with TomTom Mobile and I've also read on a Dutch forum that the same goes for TomTom Maps of the USA and Canada. What I was wondering: can these maps simply be copied from the TomTom disk to the smarthpone storage card, or is there an install program that expects a PocketPC device at the receiving end? I know from experience that cab (install) files for Windows CE will be refused by a Windows Mobile smartphone device.
