Guest Alex_le_brit Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 (edited) Hi, I've just changed networks from Orange France to Breizh Mobile, and they've given me a whole bunch of new data connection settings. What I can't really work out is what goes where. On the SPV I've got four choices: Dial-up connections VPN connections Proxy Connections GPRS Connections And this is the list Breizh gave me: Settings of connection GPRS Settings Profile Name: C GPRS Connection Type: GPRS GPRS access point: orange User Name: orange Password : orange GSM Settings Profile Name: C GSM Connection Type: CSD N° : + 33 6 74 50 11 00 Call Type : ISDN (V110) Transmission Rate : 9600 User Name: orange Password : orange Classification : analogical MMS - GPRS SETTINGS Profile Name: C Acte GPRS Connection Type: GPRS GPRS access point: orange.acte User Name: orange Password : orange MMS - GSM SETTINGS Profile Name: C Acte GSM Connection Type: CSD N° : + 33 6 74 50 13 00 Type of call : ISDN (V110) Transmission Rate: 9600 User Name: orange Password : orange WAP Profile Profile Name: Mobile Breizh Home page : http://wap.breizhmobile.com/ Default Connection: C GPRS Secondary connection : C GSM Address IP : 192.168.10.100 Port Number : 9201 Session Mode: Permanent Address IP proxy : 192.168.10.100 Proxy Port: 8080 MMS Profile Profile Name: C MMS MMS-C URL : http://mms.orange.fr/ Default Connection: C Acte GPRS Secondary connection : C Acte GSM Address IP : 192.168.10.200 Port Number: 9201 Session Mode: Permanent Address IP proxy : 192.168.10.200 Proxy Port: 8080 SMS Profile Centres N°: + 33 6 89 00 40 00 Some I can work out, and I'm happy to edit settings, what I can't work out is what goes where, can anyone help? Guest martin Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 You should either edit the existing data connections or delete everything and then re-create new connections. You could try something like this :D 1) Start>Settings>Data Connections>Menu>Edit Connections Dialup connection: Description: C GSM Connects to: The internet Phone number: +33674501100 User name: orange Password: orange Domain: Proxy connection: Description: C proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: Wap Network Proxy(name:port): 192.168.10.100:8080 Type: HTTP Username: Password: GPRS Connection: Description: C GPRS Connects to: The Internet Access point: orange Username: orange Password: orange Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: GPRS connection: Description: C Acte GPRS Connects to: MMS Network Access point: orange.acte Username: orange Password: orange Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: In the main data connections menu. WAP connection: C GPRS Start>Messaging>Media Messages>Menu>Options>Account Setup>Media Messages Menu- Edit connections - Menu- Add Server: Download Messsages: automatically Outgoing message size: less than 100kb Allowed message types: personal Menu>Edit connections Description: C MMS MMSC Address: http://mms.orange.fr/ Data Connection: MMS network Gateway: WAP 1.0 Gateway I.P Address: 192.168.10.200 Port: 9201 In Internet explorer, Menu-Options-Connections Untick 'automatically detect settings' Make 'Select network: The Internet' or 'Select Network: WAP network'. * These above settings will use the APN orange with the proxy server. You could also try the APN orange without the proxy server and see if can be used as an internet connection with the following. In the main data connections menu. Internet connection: C GPRS In Internet explorer, Menu-Options-Connections Untick 'automatically detect settings' Make 'Select network: The Internet' or 'Select Network: The internet'. Hope this helps :D
Guest Alex_le_brit Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 (edited) Hope this helps :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually I notice that it all seems to work anyway with it's old orange settings, of which it seems to have loads, so I might not bother changing anything at all. Or maybe I'll add these connections set it to use them as default and see what happens. I've never understood why I have Orange Acte, Orange and Orange MIB for the GPS GPRS and sundry other things. Out of interest what's a VPN connection? Edited January 23, 2005 by Alex_le_brit
