Guest v0rtex Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Recently bought a Bluetooth dongle (Generic Taiwanese eBay job), and it seems to work for basic stuff like web browsing and ActiveSync, but after a few hours or when transferring large files the connection dies. Restarting it with "Connect via Bluetooth" from the ActiveSync menu works sometimes (although I have had strange reports of "Port not available, check no other applications are using the connection" which required a soft reset of the phone), but the file transfer has to be started again - very annoying with large MP3 or movie files. Anyone seen anything similar? Reckon it's the BT dongle, the phone, or the WIDCOMM software? If it's the dongle I can return it...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Activsync has a habit of timing out but if you want to put large files on the storage card you would be better off buying a card reader as it would be more reliabe and also a lot faster.

Problem seems to be fixed with an upgrade to XP SP2, meaning I can drop the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack that came with the dongle and use the native Microsoft drivers.

Solution was to upgrade to SP2, with built in bluetooth.
