Earpiece volume booster software?

Im sure I read on a forum somewhere that the speaker is so loud on the jam someone had to have it on the lowest level to not hurt their ear?! Well, I have the exact opposite problem, I cannot hear a thing even with it at the highest level, all background noise like tv etc has to be at zero for me to hear a thing. (its not my hearing either, all other phones are fine) Is this a fault with my jam or do other people have this prob? And more importantly is there software that sorts this?
