Guest davejerome Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Hi everybody. I have just got an SPV C500 on orange and had it unlocked from imei-check so that I am could use my 02 contract sim card in it. I was using the phone in task manager and then i clicked on of the soft keys to see how much memory / storage i had. At this point the back light cut out and the screen faded out. It will not turn on again. The charge light does come on but in the brief second that i was in task manager it said battery was 67%. I am worried what to do as my warranty is invalid as i have unlocked the phone. anybody got any ideas?
Guest squall Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 The warrenty shouldnt be invalid after unlocking the phone. It sounds like you had a hardware issue, perhaps the battery is not fitted correctly, or theres dirt on the contacts. Remove and clean the battery / phone then leave the phone on charge for a few hours. Then try switching on whilest the phone is on chage. The LED should glow when you plug phone in:?
Guest davejerome Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 (edited) I have tried all those things to no avail. The charge light does glow but the phone still does not power up when on charge. I work in a phone shop and i am pretty sure the networks invalide the warranty just to save themselves some money Edited January 25, 2005 by davejerome
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Normally SIM unlocking does invalidate the warranty depending on where you live in the world. You could try a Hard Reset but it sounds like you will have to try and claim on your warranty to get it repaired :D
Guest davejerome Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Well have tried many things. The guys at imei check said to charge battery. remove battery, replace battery. hold camera key and plug in power. Only problem is that the phone doesn't stop charging. Tried it anyway but didn't work. Phone is within 28 days so i am gonna try orange for a replacement and forget to mention unlocking situation. Hope this is not what i can expect from windows mobile. I may get a p910 if offered, had sony erricsson for 5 years before this without a single problem
Guest spvdk Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 The Sony Ericsson Pxx0 series is great, but remember they are more than two years old, and it shows! Just try running full screen video or some other cpu intensive program, and you'll know. One could argue that the P910 isn't two years old, but in reality it is. Only the flip and the screen is new, the speed and most hardware is exactly the same as in the P800. During the same time, HTC has developed from SPV Classic to C500 - what a difference! :D
Guest slider Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I'd def NOT recomend geting a Pxxx SE unit, these have a hell of a lot more issues with them then any of the SPV range.... SE are currently shipping the 3 sofytware upgrade since june last year, and there's still a major issue with the SMS in the SIM memory... :-) Trust me, i know these things....
