TomTom Mobile SPVE200 BT problem

Hi have an SPV E200 and can get TomTom mobile working fine with the TomTom Bluetooth Device.

However, when I try to get it working with the Rikaline 6030 device I have no joy.

I have installed the GPS fix with traffic update

I have tried pairing the device

I have renamed the 2577 folder

I have tried various combinations of enabling/ disabling com 6 and com 7.

Basically I get the device to pair with my phone and as soon as I start the TomTom app, it can't find the GPS device.

When I go back to the bluetooth settings in my phone, it has lost the pairing and I can't get the device to bond again unless I do a factory reset.

Please help, it's very frustrating.

Thanks

Got it working now

Basically I did the following in the exact order:

1) Factory reset

2) Installed TomTom Mobile

3) Installed Gps fix / traffic update

4) Renamed the 2577 folder

5) Enabled com 6 and com 7

6) Paired the device and renamed to TomTom Wireless GPS

I had to do it in the exact order, no other way would work.

If you have it working with the TomTom GPS why then use another device?

Hi! Can you pls detail a few more? How did you rename the 2577 folder? would it work if you'd remove it?

Thanks

I got it working with another gps so I can sell my tomtom device as the newer device is better (longer battery life, faster pickup, works indoors etc).

I used file explorer to rename the folder to 2577bak or you can do it using activesync

I suppose if you removed the folder it would have the same effect.

I have yet to find a GPS device that is actually faster than the TomTom one. The older TT devices were not that good but the one that comes with TTMobile I have yet to seen beaten. My unit picks up almost instantly and works indoors.

Hi

Could you please tell me what the Gps fix / traffic update is ?

Sorry if this is a stupid question :D

There is not a GPS fix as such the Traffic update enables you to use

TomTom's own GPS and others on the C500.

A link to the Traffic update is on the first page of my review in the Software Articles section.

Thanks for sharing that. I might give it a try. I am a bit scared of doing a factory reset though. What other phone settings are affected?
