Guest gsmm0n Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Just yesterday my 5600 started turning off while I tried to make a call. I could however use the phone in any other way and it'd be fine. I played games and did all sorts of other things (didn't try GPRS). The battery was at about 65% at the time. I brought it home and plugged it into the charger and tried and it worked just fine while plugged in. After unplugging it (it hadn't completely charged yet), the phone continued turning off while I made a call. Today, after charging was done, I used the phone all day with no problem. Tonight however it just did it to me again. Could this be a bad battery? Can that even happen? Should I try a Master reset? Any ideas? I treat the phone fairly well so I hope it's not physical damage (the phone is in pristine condition). I did have some change in my pocket yesterday but I can't see how that would affect it.
Guest Confucious Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Try a Hard Reset. It could be a s/ware problem, if so a hard reset will cure it. Let us know the outcome.

The weird thing is that I've had that theme for over a month and it had been rock solid.
Guest gsmm0n Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 What theme was it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Reload Black...
Guest gsmm0n Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Ok it's doing this again. I did a hard reset and that doesn't help. It doesn't crash when it's plugged in. You think it's the battery?
Guest gsmm0n Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Anyone? I have a new battery coming under warranty. Maybe that'll help?
Guest Confucious Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Take the phone back and get them to replace it, it could be a faulty battery or it could be a faulty phone, if the phone is new then they should just give you a new one. Good luck.
Guest i_oWn_u Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 has anyone else had this problem?
Guest gsmm0n Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I got it through AT&T business sales which more or less doesn't exist anymore. I can't "return" it to where I bought it. AudioVox I suppose could replace it? I'll have to re-unlock it unfortunately.
Guest Confucious Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Don't you have consumer rights in the US? In the UK, if a product is faulty you can get your money back or a replacement. Cingular bought AT&T didn't they? Sureley it is them that should replace it? You are right about the re-unlocking though
Guest gsmm0n Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Yeah. But because I bought it through AT&T and use it on my Cingular acct, Cingular doesn't even support the phone. Had I had it on a true AT&T account, then I'd be find to get it replaced with Cingular. Whacked policy but that's politics for ya. Audiovox is going to replace it for me. I just sent it back to them today. Don't you have consumer rights in the US? In the UK, if a product is faulty you can get your money back or a replacement. Cingular bought AT&T didn't they? Guest Confucious Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 The joys of takeovers! At least you are getting it replaced so alls well that ends well. Good luck with your new phone
