Guest nomad512 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Tried to flash my SPV C500 to the above mentioned ROMs. Mainly to get rid of all this Orange stuff. The process completes without errors and after restarting the phone, it says: Invalid or missing sim card. After that I get a message: Software Crashes. Please contact Service Center. Orange Updates are working fine, but Imate and Qtek do not work. Anyone experienced the same ? Thanx.
Guest Confucious Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Lots of people have. They don't work.
Guest spvdk Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Some user suggested re-SIMunlocking with the v3 unlocker should fix this problem. I used v3 and am now running the Qtek update on my C500 with no problems whatsoever...
Guest nomad512 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I will try that. I unlocked with v.2
Guest nomad512 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 It works ! re-unsimlocked with version 3 and flashed with the iMate ROM. Now it works without any problems and is faster than the Orange ROM ! Thanx !
Guest Confucious Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Interesting - i've just unlocked mine again with v3 - thanks for the info. At the moment I'm quite happy with the Orange ROM so haven't tried any other. Do any of the others have WMP10? if so that might make me try. :D

Guest tudor Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 The iMate ROM still contains WMP 9. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What about application unlocking... can you still do it from Orange OTA if you have the iMate SP3 ROM? Can you please post a download link for the iMate SP3 ROM? Thanks!
Guest generationgav Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 How much faster does the new ROM make the phone, and is it really worth the £20 to get it unlocked? (just for the rom, not for a different sim) Does the Audiovox rom work and would that give me WM10? Otherwise what are the advantages (no orange theming) and disadvantages (no orange plugin) of flashing the rom. Would I still keep "caller picture" or is that part of the orange plugin?

Can you please post a download link for the iMate SP3 ROM? Thanks! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is no need to unlock the applicationlock. The iMate ROM does not have any app. lock. I could re-install all my apps without any problems. I am new here, so don't know if it is allowed to post a link for the iMate ROM here... Maybe a mod can help out here.

I don't know about the Audiovox Rom. Caller ID is still included.

Guest trevormuk Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 I think this is what I have been looking for ... in order to get rid of all the Orange guff. I have already unlocked my C500... so am I correct in saying I should flash the phone with the imate ROM, and then immediately apply the unlock? Or as I have already unlocked the phone with v3 (I think) will the ROM work when I insert my Vodafone SIM? Thanks for the help.. Cheers
Guest jpa Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 when i try the imate update on my C500 FR I have an "Invalid Vendor". Do you know how to bypass this ? thanks
Guest trevormuk Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Works a treat. My C500 was unlocked using v3 unlocker a few weeks ago. Simply run the imate ROM update and hey presto all the annoyng Orange stuff is gone :D Phone is still unlocked.. Thanks for this Cheers
Guest stirling Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Just flashed my C500 and everything works fine. Anyway people from http://www.imei-check.co.uk assured me that after unlocking no ROM update will lock again the phone..

Anyway people from http://www.imei-check.co.uk assured me that after unlocking no ROM update will lock again the phone.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In "theory" if anything flashing with a different ROM could lock it to a different network; although they say it won't. But in all honesty if this happens then all you need to do is to re-unlock the phone with the app. I've backed up all my files in readiness for flashing; but I'm still not sure if its really worth the £20, but then again I do have an O2 sim at home with LOADS of free texts I could do with utilising.
