requires ssl connection?

I have tried to get my gmail account working since i got my smartphone. But without any success. My big problem is that my Pocket Outlook dosen't have the "requires ssl connection" setting. I can't find it anywhere. I am using a qtek7070 with smartphone 2002 installed. There is no 2003 update available.

Is there any other free mail client i can use or do i have to download any updates for Pocket outlook?
