MPX200 firmware upgrade problem

Recommended Posts

Well I've spent the last four and a half hours trawling through forums (including this one) and trying to reflash my MPX200.

However it's not playing, I've received "Bad news!" errors repeatedly, I've tried all three USB ports on my PC, nothing was connected. I followed all instructions to the letter.

Extra info, trying to use the "SUPER_MOTO" release, it's locked to Orange UK (I know this could be causing the problem however I can't seem to find any unlocking service that is reliable and more importantly cheaper than $15). Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

The only unlocking service is imei-check.co.uk ...

anyway exactly what happens when you try the rom update?

It goes through completely, it detects the phone, and then says something along the lines of "do not remove cable etc", after this it just says "Bad news! flash failed, contact motorola or service provider".

I tried everything I could think of, keeping left held down throughout the process, removing the SIM, swapping USB ports rebooting etc. Nothing works though.

EDIT; just tried again and reinstalled the drivers and software, still no luck. I'd try unlocking it but I don't have a spare SIM, this is driving me insane.

I am also reflashing my phone and the only reason I have registered to this forum is to get some answers...(this is my first post).

I am also flashing the super_moto release (what makes this different from other releases).

With current time of this post I will be flashing for 6 straight hours... How long is it supposed to take? It seems to have stopped at 75% in the process.

*EDIT*

Oh yeah I Live in the USA using AT&T... I wish I wasnt so curious now... I want my wm2002 back!

Aww and I thought it was because you wanted to be part of the largest Smartphone community on the net :D

Now for the serious stuff :D

Unfortunatey the problem with using ilegal ROMs is that they do not have the proper support and testing that official releases have and some problems can occur.

how long has it now stopped on 75%? as the actual flashing should take around

10-20 minutes if I remember correctly.

If it has been longer than this, sa an hour you do not have much choice but to disconnect the phone. Normally it's the first part of the flash that's the crucial part when it is wiping the rom so you may be lucky.

I would retry the update but make sure you do not have any firewalls etc running on your pc as they can cause problems.

You can also try a hard reset first and see if the phone will boot up, chances are it may not.

Only other option is to hunt around for another ROM, there are a few around now but remember there are always risks involved.

And finally Welcome to the site :P
