Any Mini USB cable works for charging the c500. I used one from an Apacer 8-in-1 card reader. Its regular USB on one end, and mini USB on the other end. I have seen them with extenal hubs, card readers, and digial cameras too. As long as you install MS Active Sync the it will work with the c500.

i have a cable that 'appears' to be fine (its a ext 2.5 HD cable) but it wont ever allow any sort of data connection , only charging. i have a few of these devices and all the cables are the same, no data connection at all on any PC

shame.

so be careful

I should be getting by 5600 by the end of next week. In the meantime is the mini usb plug 4 or 5 pins? I've seen both on the web.

thanks in advance

4= Type A = Charging only.

5= Type B = Data connection and no charging without ActiveSync

Or so I believe.

Mini USB A: pin 4 not conected, only sync, and charge if there is a driver.

Mini USB B: pin 4 to ground, sync and charge. You can charge, for example, with a car ligther adapter with usb plug (like I do with a fortuna gps char charger). The Mini USB B is hard to find out... I found mine in a memory card reader (13 in 1 and brand 'rainbow')...
