File Name :: PocketSNES

Author :: spacemonkey

Category :: Games - Action / Adventure

Description ::

An emulator of the SNES console for smartphones.

This program runs pretty slowly, it is almost acceptable speed for non-action games on a C500 or better spec phone.

You will need roms of the games and please don't ask for them here as trading rom files is illegal.

this program freezes up on an audiovox smt5600 when opening rom....

Posted

It crashed in the openingscreen from the game Colums.

I had to pull the battery out.

Starting the progrem and launching the rom went ok.

i got this to work but it is very very slow. i will get a little amounf of play time then it will freeze for a bit then i get some ore play time on my SMT5600. i really wish there was a way to get this to work. i would think this phone has better specs than SNES. one problem i encountered was that once i wanted to exit a game i had to turn the phone off, which sometimes too a few tries.

It runs several of the games I've tried on it, with the exception of Chrono Trigger - which is a shame.

It didn't work at first for me, but I changed to landscape mode and then it ran the games.

I did a search and someone, I believe it was in this forum, said that Chrono Trigger ran, albeit slowly, on his/her WM 2002 OS (I guess an older phone than my MPx220)

Can anyone here run Chrono Trigger on their SmartPhone?? Anyone know if it has special chips inside that won't let it get emulated like a regular game?

is there an update for this thing yet?

Depends on how many donations Spacemonkey has received.

lol there isnt a working product or an indication that the programmer is actually working on it.

Yes, the MPX200 only has a 200 mhz processor, too little for smooth emulation. Might as well stick to the NES.

Hi all,

I too had the same problem with the emulator freezing up after loading the ROM. I was keen to get this working on my C550 after spacemonkey's announcement of it functioning on the C500, so I downloaded the source from his website and fixed it to run. Now I'm playing Mario Kart on my C550! Its by no means perfect but the game runs adequately with frameskips settings.

Anyway, I've attached the working version here.

Please do not send me requests for updates or changes, these should be redirected to spacemonkey. All credit goes to him for his hard work in porting this to smartphone. I just fixed it to work on my C550. Enjoy!

I've already tried chronotrigger and it didn't work. It think the rom is too big for this emulator. It only supports roms 4mb or less.

I've just got PicoDrive working on full screen on my C550 after modifying the source. I'm going to translate this to PocketSNES so I don't have to look at the postage size game window :D

Playing Shinobi in full screen on C550 is sweet. PicoDrive is also more playable in terms of speed and fame rate. I wonder if I can strip some of the calls out of PocketSNES to bump up the frame rate. hmm...time to do a bit of testing me thinks!
