Guest Scream Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Hi, i don't knwo if this is possible but is it possible to increase the storage memory of the phone for application in the sense of the memory it uses when running apps. i've got a 256md card, however the problem comes about when i start using java apps, this just drains the system memory and i have to make sure no other prog is running through task manager as the phone will crash. Also iif you don't turn your phone off for a while this memory just gets really low even though you've used task manager to shut down all open apps. does anyone knwo what's causing the memory prob? hope that made sense.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Your question does make sense even if the memory drain on the phone doesn't ! AFAIK the problem is caused by the OS so there's nothing you can do about it that you're not already doing. The obvious thing to do is install everything to the storage card and don't keep too many ringtones / homescreens on the phone. You should also clean out your SMS / MMS / email folders regularly. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer.
Guest Scream Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 that's everything i'm doing at the moment. the memory drain i'm putting down to MS programming at the moment, lol.
Guest squall Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 the phone is good at keeping track of memory allocation, so with most cases task manager can free up all the available memory. The problem you describe normally happens when a badly programmed app leaks memory. I wouldnt want to make a general statement about java and sucking, but...
Guest Scream Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 this happens generally though. i mean if i just use the phone for checking text message and calls, oh and the odd game of jawbreaker. still the memory slowly goes down.
Guest squall Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 indeed. I would install task manager and smart explorer from ww.binarys.com task manger allows you to free up memory when needed :D
